Throughout the semester I am going to talk about user-driven websites. I will focus on many different types such as photography sites, educational sites, sports sites and so on.

This week I want discuss a popular website called youtube.com. Youtube.com is a social network that allows users to post videos and comment on videos. This site offers many different activities the users can participate in. For example, they can upload, tag, and share videos nation wide. The users can search videos that were posted by other users just like them. Also, youtube.com gives user an option of privacy. A user can post anything he/she wants to but has the choice of letting others view it. Youtube.com offers a blog of their own that users can read to find out about developments of the site. A user can write to youtube.com if they have any suggestion or comments.

I believe that youtube.com is an excellent example of an online community especially since the 70 million of the posted videos are viewed on a daily basis. Offering users the option to subscribe or just to join their community proves they are a social network.
